THE TEAMS LEADED IN THE FIRST THREE PLACES GO TO BRUSSELS
SECOND PLACE: OS IMPLANTS
In second place were OS Implants – a team of students from the Medical University of Sofia, Vanyo Vezirov, Mario Emilov, Kiril Stanchev and Alexei Mitev, with an advanced prototype and project for 3D printing of bone implants. Use standard healing procedures to scan the bones (computed tomography), which can build a virtual pattern of the affected bone or trauma to the patient. Thus, using the image, you can create a virtual model of a medical implant that is individual and personalized for each patient. Following the printing process, through an innovative 3D printer, using a polymer approved by the European Medical Agency (EMA), which resembles the strength and parameters of real bones.
The boys solve the problem of serious traffic accidents, as well as severe tumor diseases of the bones, which require bone replacement.
